View MXU 550i EPS →Covering extensive ground across varied terrain, often crossing public roads between beats, the MXU 465 is the only model in the range registerable as PLG — giving you the flexibility to travel legally on public roads.
View MXU 465 →When you need to take a second person along — or need to tow more than 500kg — the UTV 700 side-by-side is the answer. With a 650kg tow limit, EPS, 4WD diff-lock, and optional full cab, it's built for year-round British conditions.
View UTV 700 →The Mongoose 90 is the correct starting point for young riders — its throttle limiter, ignition kill-cord, and keyed start let you control exactly how much performance is available as confidence develops.
View Mongoose 90 →Kymco has manufactured powered vehicles since 1963, originally producing engine and transmission components for Honda before developing its own full vehicle range. That manufacturing heritage — combined with an annual production volume exceeding one million units — delivers a level of build consistency, parts availability, and supply chain resilience that smaller or newer brands cannot match.
Critically for UK buyers, all Kymco ATV and UTV parts and warranty support are distributed domestically from Bridgend, South Wales. This means that if your machine needs a part, it arrives quickly through your local authorised dealer — not on a slow international shipment. For any working farm vehicle, minimising downtime is not a luxury; it is an operational necessity.
All Kymco ATVs and UTVs sold through the UK authorised dealer network are backed by a full manufacturer warranty. Your dealer can advise on current warranty terms and service intervals at the point of purchase.
The terms ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) and UTV (Utility Task Vehicle) are often used interchangeably, but they describe meaningfully different machine types.
No licence is required to ride a quad bike on private land. To ride on public roads, you will need an appropriate driving licence — the category depends on the quad bike's weight and power output. Most agricultural quad bikes can be ridden on a standard car (category B) licence on a public road, though the specific requirements vary. The MXU 465 is the only Kymco ATV that can be road-registered — we recommend consulting the DVLA or your local Kymco dealer for guidance specific to your intended use.
Yes, but only if the quad bike is road-registered, taxed, insured, and meets the required safety standards. In the Kymco range, the MXU 465 is specifically approved for road registration under Agricultural, Limited Use, and PLG (Private Light Goods) categories. All other Kymco ATVs and the UTV 700 are designed for off-road and private land use.
PLG stands for Private Light Goods — a DVLA vehicle registration category that allows certain quad bikes to be used on public roads as light goods vehicles. PLG registration gives greater flexibility than agricultural-only registration, as it is not limited to farm work. The Kymco MXU 465 is the only model in the range that can be registered as PLG, making it particularly popular with gamekeepers, estate managers, and farmers who regularly need to cross or travel along public roads.
In 2WD mode, drive is applied to the rear wheels only — fine for firm, dry ground and more fuel-efficient for routine use. 4WD applies drive to all four wheels simultaneously, dramatically improving traction on soft, wet, or steep terrain. The locking differential, available on the MXU 465, MXU 550i, MXU 700i, and UTV 700, goes a step further — forcing equal drive to both axles to prevent wheel spin in the worst conditions. For working farms with mixed terrain, 4WD with diff-lock is strongly recommended.
EPS uses an electric motor to assist the steering, reducing the physical effort required — particularly at low speeds and in soft ground where steering loads are highest. For a rider spending four to eight hours a day on an ATV, EPS meaningfully reduces fatigue in the arms, shoulders, and wrists. It is standard on the MXU 550i, MXU 700i, and UTV 700.
New farm quad bikes in the UK range from around £3,000 for a light entry-level machine to over £10,000 for a fully specified flagship ATV or side-by-side. In the Kymco range, the MXU 150 starts at £3,249 exc. VAT, whilst the MXU 700i ABS EPS is priced at £8,249 exc. VAT. The UTV 700 side-by-side starts at £10,599 exc. VAT. All prices are RRP and additional fitting costs may apply.
Most working farms use mid-range utility ATVs in the 400–700cc class, with 4WD and a locking differential as near-essential requirements for year-round British conditions. Electric Power Steering is increasingly regarded as standard at this level rather than an optional extra. Gamekeepers and estate managers who cover public roads often specifically require a road-legal model — the MXU 465 is the only Kymco ATV to meet this requirement. Those needing to transport a second person regularly are often better served by the UTV 700.
Quad bikes used solely on private land do not require an MOT. If a quad bike is road-registered and used on public roads, MOT requirements depend on its age and registration category — agricultural vehicles registered for road use have different MOT rules to standard motorcycles or light goods vehicles. Your Kymco dealer can advise on the specific requirements for the MXU 465 if you intend to road-register it.
For light duties — small trailers, feed bags, garden equipment — a 150–250kg towing capacity is sufficient, covered by the MXU 150 and MXU 300 T3B. For agricultural trailers, livestock equipment, and heavier loads, you will want at least 400kg — available from the MXU 465 upwards. The UTV 700's 650kg rating is the highest in the Kymco range and allows it to move fully loaded trailers comfortably. Always review your local construction and use regulations when towing on public roads.
