The Kymco MXU 465 is the only ATV in the range that can be registered for road use — including PLG (Private Light Goods) — making it uniquely capable of travelling between fields, properties, and locations on public roads without the need for a separate road vehicle.
The MXU 465 is designed for working landowners and farmers who need to cross public roads between fields, gamekeepers and estate managers patrolling across multiple access points, and anyone for whom a purely off-road ATV simply is not practical. Its 443cc fuel-injected engine producing 33 HP powers a machine with 4WD and a locking differential, IRS rear suspension, and a 447kg towing capacity — making it a genuinely hardworking machine on any terrain.
The fact that it can be registered not only as an agricultural vehicle but also uniquely as PLG (Private Light Goods) gives it the most flexible registration options of any model in the Kymco ATV range.
The MXU 465 competes with the Yamaha Kodiak 450 and Can-Am Outlander 450 in the mid-range utility ATV segment. Its road-registerable status is a significant differentiator — neither of those competitors offers PLG registration capability in the UK. At £5,349 exc. VAT, it undercuts both rivals while offering 4WD with diff-lock and IRS rear suspension as standard. If road use is not a requirement, the MXU 550i T3B EPS offers greater power and EPS steering assistance at the next price point.
Yes. The MXU 465 can be registered for road use in the UK under Agricultural, Limited Use, and PLG (Private Light Goods) categories. This means it can legally travel on public roads subject to the rules applicable to its registration category. Please consult your local dealer or the DVLA for specific requirements regarding road registration, insurance, and the driving licence category needed for your intended use.
PLG stands for Private Light Goods. This registration category allows the MXU 465 to be used on public roads as a light goods vehicle. It is a broader registration category than agricultural-only, giving more flexibility in how and where the machine can legally be used.
IRS stands for Independent Rear Suspension. Rather than a solid rear axle, each rear wheel reacts independently to the terrain. This improves grip on uneven ground, reduces the shocks transmitted to the rider, and makes for a significantly more comfortable ride over long working days — particularly relevant for anyone spending hours in the saddle.
Licence requirements for quad bikes on public roads in the UK depend on the vehicle's registration category and the date of your licence. We recommend consulting the DVLA or your local Kymco dealer for current, specific guidance applicable to your situation.
Speak to your nearest authorised Kymco dealer about road registration options and to arrange a test on the MXU 465.
