In a road test report featured in MCN on 18th July 2007, which compared the KYMCO KR Sport 125 with the Honda CBR125, AJS CR3-125 and Kinroad XT125, the KR Sport came out on top scoring an impressive 4.5 out of 5.
The report, entitled ‘Catching up with the Japanese’ was carried out and written by MCN’s expert road-test team, who said:
“The Taiwanese KYMCO KR is poised to spring a surprise”
“Like the Honda, KYMCO’s KR Sport 125 is also a looker, but because its styled along the lines of a 250cc-sized bike it dwarfs the Honda. The more we look at it in disbelief, the more our eyes fall across its components. Wide profile rear tyre, cool black paintwork, quality coating on the engine, twin lights … The KYMCO promises so much it’s easy to see why a 17-year old or anyone else starting out on the hard road to motorcycling freedom would be swayed into buying the KYMCO.”
“It’s quite unnerving to see how close its features and build quality are so Japanese-like, and all for £2399 complete with a two year warranty and the back-up of a national dealer network.”
MCN rounded-up the report by saying that the KR Sport is “The best example of non-Japanese sports 125s. Large dealer network and two-year warranty make it an attractive proposition.”
