Apr 2007 - SCOOTER REVS UP TEENAGE CHARITY FUNDS
Concerts were staged across six days, from Monday 26th March to Saturday 31st March, and saw
some of the top names in the music industry perform to fans. The impressive line up included the
likes of Noel Gallagher, The Coral, Kasabian, The Who and Kaiser Chiefs, as well as a comedy
night, which was hosted by Russell Brand and Noel Fielding.
KYMCO donated its sporty and vibrantly styled Super 9 50 scooter, which was displayed back stage
and signed by some of the bands.
Teenage Cancer Trust will now auction the signed Super 9 50, and all proceeds will be used to
fund dedicated Teenage Cancer Trust units. The Trust has built seven units already, but is aiming
to provide enough so that every teenager in the UK has access to one. These are all built in NHS
hospitals and can improve survival rates by as much as 15%.
Richard Shaw, Director for Fundraising and Education said: “We are delighted that KYMCO has
donated this scooter to us, and we plan to auction it later this year to raise much needed funds.”
Mark Callahan, Commercial Director of Masco, the UK concessionaire for KYMCO, said: “We have
long admired the work done by Teenage Cancer Trust, and I hope that the signed Scooter will
raise a significant sum of money for the charity.”
Details of where and when the scooter will be auctioned will be posted on the Teenage Cancer
Trust website – www.teenagecancertrust.org later on this year.
